If you think facial oils will make your skin greasy, clog pores and make you break out, you’re not alone. It’s a common misconception. But the truth is, oil dissolves oil. Plant oils protect the skin's acid mantle—a thin film on the surface of the face that regulates microflora and helps rebuild and maintain the skin's lipid barrier. Crafted in small batches, our lightweight facial serums and moisturizers are made with a balanced combination of fruits, seeds, flowers, and nuts to produce a serum that deeply penetrates and feed tissues from the inside out. A few drops are all you’ll need.
FREE OF TOXINS. FULL OF GOODNESS.
Our bodies are permeable. Studies have shown that skin, our largest organ, can absorb up to 60% of what it comes into contact with. What goes on, goes in. This is why personal care products should be as fresh and wholesome as the food we eat. Yet many product lines require preservatives that are linked to breast cancer (parabens), or add synthetic additives that can cause skin discoloration (fragrance), contribute to immune system toxicity (formaldehyde), disrupt hormones (phthalates), and irritate eyes and scalp (sodium laurel sulfate). That’s scary. Our botanical skincare is handcrafted in small batches using the highest quality organic and ethically foraged plants we can find.
Argan: Often called ‘liquid gold’, argan oil is extracted from the kernels of the argan tree, native to Morocco. One of the main reasons that argan oil is so therapeutic is because it’s rich with vitamin A and vitamin E (nutrients responsible for skin regeneration), omega-6 fatty acids and linoleic acid. Argan oil’s high linoleic acid content helps to reduce inflammation caused by acne, (not to mention rashes, infections and bug bites) while helping to soothe damaged skin cells. **
Avocado Oil: Avocado is a key ingredient to reducing inflammation without drying out the skin – which can cause the skin to overproduce oil and exacerbate acne. Rich in monounsaturated fats such as oleic acid, Avocado oil is free of polyunsaturated fat, which actually can lead to acne formation. It also contains vitamin C and K which boosts skin immunity and fights acne-causing bacteria. **
Tamanu: Tamanu oil originates from a nut grown from the Ati tree in the South Pacific. Tamanu oil also contains antimicrobial properties with a number of specific lipids not typically found in other oils, including calophyllolide (stops inflammation), lactone (an antibiotic), and calophyllic acid (an uncommon type of fatty acid that particularly aids in healing acne). Has also been studied as a treatment for Rosacea. **
: Known for their highly antiseptic properties, stinging nettles are powerful helpers in working with acne. When the extracts are applied to the skin, stinging nettle has been proven to reduce the severity of acne and can even prevent bacterial infections. Due to its antioxidant properties, it can also speed healing, reduce the appearance of scars and blemishes, and promote anti-aging effects to reduce wrinkles and age spots. **
